Kirsters Baish| If there’s one thing that’s for certain, it’s that Federal law comes before state law. The Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, aka ICE, has been very clear in explaining that sanctuary cities will not be actual sanctuaries for much longer.
The Trump administration has made it crystal clear that they will be retaliating against sanctuary cities, and California’s Governor Jerry Brown has signed into law “sanctuary state” legislation this past Thursday. Essentially, this limits exactly how and who state and local law enforcement agencies can keep in custody as well as who they can question and transfer. This is due to the request of federal immigration authorities. ICE has reprimanded Governor Brown’s stance.
The Washington Examiner reported:
Acting ICE Director Tom Homan said in a statement. “Governor Jerry Brown’s decision to sign SB54 and make California a sanctuary state for illegal aliens – including those who have committed crimes – will undermine public safety and hinder ICE from performing its federally mandated mission. The governor is simply wrong when he claims otherwise,”
“ICE will have no choice but to conduct at-large arrests in local neighborhoods and at worksites, which will inevitably result in additional collateral arrests, instead of focusing on arrests at jails and prisons where transfers are safer for ICE officers and the community,” Homan added. “ICE will also likely have to detain individuals arrested in California in detention facilities outside of the state, far from any family they may have in California.”
Interestingly enough, California will be the state that will benefit the most out of anyone. They currently suffer from the worst costs of illegal immigration out of the entire United Sates.
Anyone with a normal brain capacity finds it hard to understand just why California wants to keep illegals overrunning their state as they have been. The cost to keep all of these illegal aliens is truly more than most people can even imagine. There is, however, the possibility that their long term goal is to be granted amnesty. This will make California a Blue State forever, no questions asked.
The truth of the matter is that illegal immigrants are creating such a huge issue for America in terms of debt, we cannot afford to house anymore of them. The main issue with sanctuary cities, however, isn’t event the cost, it’s the crime rate. When we allow undocumented immigrants (often with criminal backgrounds) to overrun the streets, we are allowing unnecessary danger for American citizens. It’s time to start thinking about to good of America.
